Established in 2018, yd7610 was one of ten partners that helped create the “Montreal East Collective Gardens” in response to the area's lack of access to healthy food and food deserts. The East of Montreal Food Network was created to support food initiatives and offer solutions to these challenges.
Six years later, yd7610’s continued support demonstrates the benefits of the urban agriculture project. This year, more than 2,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables were harvested, much of which was donated to the Action Secours Vie d'Espoir food bank to support people in need. Also, Polliflora's beehives produced 220 pounds of honey, a highly generous harvest for an urbanized area.
Over the years, yd7610 has invested $240,000 in this project and provided equipment and materials, and dozens of yd7610 volunteers continue to be involved to keep it active.
